ABSTRACT
Considerando a influência do ambiente na gênese da incapacidade de pessoas com deficiência física, faz-se necessária a investigação científica nesta área. Informações sobre o contexto ambiental onde a incapacidade ocorre ajudam o terapeuta a decidir se deve focar o tratamento nos comprometimentos da criança, na modificação da tarefa ou na adaptação do ambiente. O novo formato da CIF (Classificação Internacional de Funcionabilidade) enfatiza a função, a atividade e a participação, e reconhece a influência de fatores ambientais físicos, sociais e atitudinais na incapacidade e nas tarefas funcionais. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi identificar na literatura fatores ambientais que atuam facilitando a função ou criando barreiras para a criança com deficiência física. Adicionalmente, propôs-se um protocolo de visita aos ambientes próprios da vida da criança para ser incorporado à rotina de tratamento da incapacidade.
Considering the influence of environment on the genesis of disability of physically handicapped people, scientific research on this matter is worthy of investigation. Information on environmental context in which disability occurs helps the therapist to decide if the management of the childs impairments should be focused on modification of the task or adaptation of the environment. The new format of ICF (International Classification of Functioning) emphasizes function, activities, and participation, and thus recognizes the influence of physical, social, and attitudinal environmental factors on disability and functional activities. The objective of this paper was to identify literature on environmental factors facilitating function or creating barriers to the handicapped child. In addition, a home visit protocol is proposed to be incorporated to the treatment routine of disability.
